Accessibility
A website for everyone
How we make this site usable for as many people as possible, and how to tell us when it isn’t.
Our commitment
The London Tamil Sangam wants everyone to be able to use this website, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or voice control. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What we’ve built in
The site is designed so that you can:
Zoom in up to 400% without text being cut off, and change colours, spacing and fonts in your browser.
Move around using only a keyboard: the first Tab on each page offers “Skip to main content”, and every link and button shows where you are.
Use a screen reader: pages have headings and landmarks, images have text descriptions, and Tamil text is marked as Tamil so it is read in a Tamil voice.
Use the site on a phone or tablet in either orientation.
Known limitations
Textbook pages in the online reader are shown as pictures of the printed page, so a screen reader cannot read their text. The reader’s drawing tools need a mouse, pen or touch.
Some documents we publish as PDFs, such as our Articles of Association, may not be fully accessible.
The map on our Contact page comes from Google Maps, which we don’t control. Our address and a “Get directions” link are always shown beside it.
If you need any of this in another format, contact us and we will help.
Tell us about a problem
If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in a different format (such as large print, or read over the phone), contact us by phone, email, WhatsApp or our contact form. Tell us the page and what went wrong, and we will reply as soon as we can.
If you are not happy with our response, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can give advice: equalityadvisoryservice.com, 0808 800 0082.

This statement was prepared by LTS volunteers in October 2026 from a review of how the site is built. The site has not yet been fully tested with screen readers or audited independently, so there may be problems we don’t know about yet — please tell us if you find one. We review this statement whenever we add or change a part of the site.
